In our quest to find the next great picture book, we will look at anything anyone sends us. This includes story ideas or synopses, sample art, or a full dummy copy. If we cannot produce it on our end or connect you with a publisher, we'll try to find you a literary agent who can. And if the work isn't ready yet, we'll tell you why and will suggest ways to improve.

Work with a mentor and model texts to sharpen your lines, shading, color, and perspective. Read and discuss our collection of Fantastic Picture Books to develop a sharper sense of humor and layered story play. Submit four picture book schematics.

We look at thousands of picture books a year. About one in a hundred will earn a Fantastic Picture Book score from us. The book is scored on two dimensions: story and art. It must score a combined sum of no less then 7, with no individual score being lower than a 3. The awards that are presented here are form books that scored a perfect 10.

Arbitrary? Perhaps. But if you read as many picture books as we do, you get a feel for things. And what do you do when you find that layered, playful, apolitical thing-unto-itself which is the perfect story, and what if it is drawn up in truly unique style? You give it an award!  CLICK TO GO
